Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has declared that the Glazers will not meddle in any decision regarding head coach Ruben Amorim's future. The United manager has come under scrutiny this campaign following a sluggish beginning to the fresh Premier League season.
The club is currently in 10th position in the standings, having secured 10 points from their initial seven league fixtures. A 2-0 victory over Sunderland in their most recent encounter has temporarily quietened speculation but another downturn could well reignite such discussions.
Ratcliffe will be one of the pivotal figures when determining Amorim's future. Whilst he acknowledges the frustration amongst certain supporters, the co-owner has suggested he remains willing to afford the manager additional time.
"The press, sometimes I don't understand," Ratcliffe revealed to The Business Podcast. "They want overnight success.
"They think it's a light switch. You know, you flick a switch and it's all going to be roses tomorrow. You can't run a club like Manchester United on knee-jerk reactions to some journalist who goes off on one every week."
Discussing his relationship with the Glazer family, Ratcliffe stated they were satisfied about allowing him to assume control. When questioned about what his response would be should the Glazers instruct him to dismiss Amorim, Ratcliffe confirmed such a situation would not arise.
United's Portuguese manager penned a three-year contract at Old Trafford last November. Ratcliffe has signalled his readiness to grant him more time to turn things around.
Despite conceding that the head coach has had a rocky start at Old Trafford, the Ineos boss believes he will prove his value over the full three-year duration of his contract. This is the outcome the United co-owner is hoping for, even while recognising the challenging past year.

United are set to resume Premier League action following the international break, with an away match against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, October 19 (4.30pm kick-off).
