Princess Kate's "iconic" blue sapphire engagement ring has been crowned Britain's most wanted royal engagement ring, according to a new study. The Princess of Wales is often seen wearing the stunning piece Prince William gave her when he proposed in 2010.
The ring was formerly Princess Diana's and features a 12-carat Ceylon sapphire, originating from Sri Lanka. New research has now found that Kate's heirloom is the most searched-for ring in Britain, overtaking Meghan Markle's by nearly half the searches.
The Duchess of Sussex's engagement ring features one huge Botswana diamond and two diamonds from her the late Princess Diana's collection.

Prince Harry had designed the bespoke ring with the help of Cleave & Company, the late Queen Elizabeth's regular jeweller.
Research conducted by Infinity Diamond Jewellery tracked search volume data nationwide and found the top ten most popular royal engagement rings.
Kate's famous blue gem won the top spot, raking in a whopping 2,455 searches every month across the UK.
The ring also took second place, this time being known as Princess Diana's original ring, with 2,201 monthly searches.
Meghan's bespoke ring acquired 1,516 monthly searches from Brits, giving her the third place.
Queen Elizabeth II's platinum and diamond band came fourth with 512 monthly searches, while Grace Kelly's Cartier 10.47-carat emerald-cut diamond ring took the fifth spot with 509 searches.
Sarah Fielding, a spokesperson for Infinity Diamond Jewellery, said: "The findings prove modern royal rings dominate historical pieces in popularity. Kate, Meghan and Diana are the most recent major royal brides, attracting more than 6,000 monthly searches for their iconic engagement rings combined.
"The enduring appeal of [Princess Kate's] sapphire ring shows how royal jewellery continues to influence engagement ring trends in Britain. The ring's rich history, having belonged to Princess Diana, adds layers of meaning that resonate with the British public.
"Worldwide trends show Meghan's ring dominates globally, but this study proves it is a different story in the UK."
