A man has died after falling from a balcony at a popular holiday park in England. Bartosz Urbaniak, 29, sustained fatal head injuries after losing his footing during the Big Weekender event at Butlin's in Skegness. Witnesses described the man attempting to climb from one balcony to another and then plunging to his death.
He was reportedly drinking at the time. The incident took place at around 12.15pm on September 28. A trainee nurse who was also at the event rushed to give him CPR until the air ambulance arrived. He was rushed to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham but despite medics' best efforts, he died two days later.
Paying an emotional tribute, his girlfriend said: "Saying goodbye to you for the very last time was something I never imagined I'd have to do.
"You had the biggest heart and a soul far too kind for this world. Please watch over Layton, he's your mirror, your legacy, and he carries your light in everything he does.
"Until we meet again, know that you'll always be loved, missed, and remembered.
"Life will never be the same without you, but we'll keep your memory alive and make you proud.
"Fly high, my love."
Following an inquest last month, the cause of death was established as a traumatic brain injury, The Sun has reported. This was said to have resulted from a fall from a third floor balcony and a subsequent "medical episode". His death is not being treated as suspicious.
In another incident in 2019, a two-year-old boy choked to death at a Butlin's in Bognor Regis, West Sussex. The boy got food caught in his throat while at the on-site restaurant, an inquest heard. Rushed to hospital, he tragically died two days later.
Butlin's has been approached for a comment.
