ITV The Chase fans cry 'finally' as they all say same thing minutes into episode

Fans of The Chase who tuned into the latest episode cried "finally" as one Chaser made their return after several weeks off. Jane from Seaford, Orla from Glasgow, Peter from North Shields, and Sam from Peterborough were taking on the iconic ITV quiz show on Wednesday (15 October) and were up against Darragh Ennis. When it was revealed that the four contestants would be up against Darragh, fans were delighted to see him and commented on social media. One person said on X: "Finally, Darragh is the Chaser after two weeks of absence. #TheChase." A second also chimed in: "Finally, it's my fave Chaser The Menace." A third also typed: "Is that Darragh I see... after all these weeks?!"

A few days ago, someone had tweeted on X: "when was the last time darragh was on the chase? #thechase," to which one user replied: "Very rarely tbf."

Peter and Orla made it through to the final chase with a total of £6K in the prize pot. They both managed to get 11 questions right, but they were quickly caught by Darragh with 47 seconds remaining.

The Chase first aired on ITV in 2009 and has become one of the most iconic quiz shows on British television, where contestants must compete against 'The Chasers.'

Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the fast-paced game involves players attempting to beat 'The Chaser' and walk away with a cash prize. As of June 2025, there are six official Chasers: Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis. Each Chaser has their own nickname and have found fame since the show launched, as well as starring in the spin-off ITV show, Beat the Chasers.

Despite saying that he "loved" being on both The Chase and Beat The Chasers, Darragh has previously admitted that there was one format that would never be considered - live shows.

He said in 2024: "Live doesn't work for quiz shows. Unfortunately, through the magic of editing, there's problems sometimes where people have to ask if a question is ok or where they think the answer's not right and we have to stop recording, and that can take a few minutes. It doesn't work on live. You just can't do quiz shows live."

Meanwhile, speaking about whether we would ever see him on any other TV shows, Darragh completely ruled out BBC's Strictly Come Dancing as he said: "Strictly I can't do because I can't dance.

"To the point where, I know a lot of people who can dance but are just bad at it, but I just have no sense of rhythm. But I'd be willing to do some other stuff."
