Finding an eye cream that actually delivers real results isn't easy, but shoppers are saying the Aveeno Face Age Renewal Eye Gel Cream has seriously impressed them, with visible changes showing up in just a few weeks. In fact, one shopper said they had been "blown away" by the results in just a short period of time. In a review, they said: "I have used this for less than a month, and I wasn't expecting much from it.
"But it has actually significantly reduced my puffy eye bags. The texture is perfect, not greasy and blends in straight away."
Part of Aveeno's new Age Renewal line, the eye gel cream costs£17 at LookFantastic and is designed as a gentler retinol alternative. The brand claims that it will give you smoother, brighter skin without the dryness or irritation that often comes with traditional retinol.
"Retinol is essentially vitamin A and it comes in different forms, strengths and derivatives," Nadia Aminian, celebrity facialist and senior aesthetician at Taktouk Clinic, told The Express. "It's good for speeding up cell turnover, encouraging skin to produce more collagen and helps decongestion, because of this it can help with hyper pigmentation, acne, and fine lines and wrinkles.
"Retinol is well known for its anti-ageing properties. Collagen is a protein that is occurs in the skin and that naturally breaks down as we age, retinol helps the cell turnover therefore stimulates the skin to keep producing new collagen. However, if you are pregnant and breast feeding you should not use vitamin A."
Similarly, those with sensitive skin may want to avoid or reduce how much retinol they use, which is why a product like Aveeno's is worth considering.
Instead of using vitamin A derivatives, Aveeno's formula uses cranberry extract. According to the brand, the plant-based ingredient can encourage cell renewal and soften fine lines while being gentle enough for sensitive skin. The cream also uses oat extract to soothe the skin and niacinamide, which Aveeno says will brighten dark circles and even out skin tone.
The texture is a light gel-cream, meaning it sinks in quickly and works well under makeup. Aveeno recommends using it morning and night to hydrate the delicate eye area while gradually reducing puffiness and improving elasticity.
And if you're thinking of building a routine, there's more in the line: the Age Renewal Serum (£25), which is meant to be applied to freshly cleansed skin twice a day, followed by the eye cream, and then the Age Renewal Cream (£20) to lock everything in.
All three products have received glowing reviews, but the eye gel cream is really stealing the spotlight.
One shopper said: "My eye area is super sensitive and this is perfect, I have suffered with no problems! And my eyes feel more firm."
However, despite some shoppers seeing a noticeable difference in weeks, one person said: "It's lightweight and sinks in well and so far hasn't irritated my sensitive eyes."
