Woman Protester Attempts To Storm Odisha Assembly Over Grievance, Detained

Bhubaneswar: High-drama was witnessed outside the Odisha Assembly building in Bhubaneswar on Friday when a woman attempted to forcibly enter the premises while protesting over several issues.

Though a tight security net has been thrown around the areas surrounding the Assembly complex in view of the ongoing monsoon session, the woman tried to march towards the building. She was promptly prevented by police personnel deployed at the site.

The woman, identified as Saraswati from Jajpur district, was stopped and detained by police after she attempted to enter the Assembly complex to press her grievances.

The protester alleged that her vehicle had been forcibly sold under coercion and claimed that her repeated complaints filed through the Chief Minister’s grievance cell were yet to be resolved.

As per information, Saraswati had earlier met the Commissioner of Police as well as the Director General of Police. She claimed that the issue started during the previous BJD government, and despite multiple complaints at the time, no action was taken. The present government and police authorities were also not taking her grievance seriously, she claimed.

Following the incident, police detained the woman and questioned her. The matter is being looked into to ensure that her allegations are properly documented and reviewed, officials said.
