Lorraine star reveals 4 stone weight loss live on air after using Mounjaro jab

A star of Lorraine has revealed her four stone weight loss transformation after taking Mounjaro.

Appearing on the ITV daytime show today, alongside Lorraine, who made her return to the show after a summer break Claer Barrett revealed her transformation, as she joined Dr Hilary on the sofa to speak about her experiences.

Explaining why she chose to use the drug to lose the weight, the financial expert said: "I was obsese. I had a body mass index of 37, which was far too high. Anything 30 or over you're in the danger zone for diabetes. I wasn't pre diabetic, but that was something I was very worried about."

"I had a rogue high blood pressure reading when I was under a lot of stress at work, and it just made me think. I write about longevity, about retirement, about healthy life expectancy.

"I took a calculated risk, you might say, I knew there were side effects to these drugs. I had various chats with Dr Hilary, but I also made a beeline to my own GP."

Offering advice to those wanting to lose weight, Claer said: "Anyone who's thinking about losing weight, your GP can offer give you so much help and information, and support for free."

Speaking about her journey, the star continued: "I did a free 12 week course on the NHS and lost nearly a stone doing that." Claer then admitted that at 45, some of the methods she used to lose weight when she was younger just weren't working for her anymore.

Although Claer didn't have any bad side effects, she said she was "fully prepared" for the bad ones. She revealed that she told everyone at work she was taking the drug, so they could prepare if anything were to happen.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Mounjaro's manufacturer, Eli Lilly, would ramp up the UK list price of the drug by a staggering 170% from 1st September.

A spokesperson for Eli Lilly said: "We are working with private providers on commercial arrangements to maintain affordability and expect these to be passed on to patients when the change is effective on September 1.

"We are already seeing providers respond in different ways to the list price change, with a range of options available for eligible patients.

"We also want to work in partnership with the Government to expand NHS access for eligible patients, building on the commitments in the Government's 10 Year Plan."
