Thiruvananthapuram | Vismaya Mohanlal, daughter of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, will be making her acting debut as the lead actor in noted director Jude Anthany Joseph’s next film, titled ‘Thudakkam’ (The beginning).
Mohanlal himself announced his daughter’s launch in his Facebook post Tuesday evening.
“Dear Mayakutty, may your ‘Thudakkam’ be the just the first step in a lifelong love affair with cinema,” he said in a post.
The film will be produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Ashirvad Films, always associated with Mohanlal films.
For Jude Anthany Joseph, director of the 2023 hit movie “2018,” a depiction of the devastating floods in Kerala, “Thudakkam” is the next venture in his career. Earlier, he had created hits like “Om Shanti Oshana” (2014) and “Oru Muthassi Gadha (2016).
In his Facebook post, Joseph wrote that he has been ordained to take up the special task.
“I saw the joy and hope in the eyes of Lalettan and Suchi Chechi (sister) when Maya was entrusted with me for her first film. I will not disappoint you,” he wrote.
Joseph further said it is a small film and he is not making any tall claims.
“I always made films that speak my mind and it will remain the same,” he said, adding he hoped the viewers will stay with him.
Vismaya Mohanlal had displayed her literary talent through a book, titled ‘Grains of Stardust’ published in 2021 through Penguin books, which is a compilation of poetry and illustrations.
She also cherishes her passion for martial arts and is trained in Thai combat sport Muay Thai, moments of which she had shared on social media.
Her brother Pranav Mohanlal had made his debut with Malayalam film, “Aadhi” (2018), directed by eminent director Jeethu Joseph, and followed it up with a few other films.
