Vrat-friendly Upma Recipe: The month of Sawan is going on. This month is very much liked by Lord Shiva. Shiva devotees worship Bholenath throughout the month. They keep fast on Sawan Monday. There is only one last Sawan Monday left, which will fall on 4th August. In such a situation, if you are also fasting, then you must be consuming only the things made during the fast, which will keep you full of energy. Also, it will give full strength and stamina to the body during the fast.

This recipe is Vrat Friendly Upma, whose video recipe was shared by Chef Kunal Kapoor on his Instagram account. Let's know how the Vrat Wali Upma recipe is made.

Ingredients for making Vrat Wali Upma

Samak rice - 1 cup soaked

Milk or water - 2 cups

Boiled potato - 1 cup

Ghee - 2 tablespoons

Peanuts - a handful

Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon

Ginger - finely chopped 2 teaspoons

Green chilli - 1

Curry leaves - 4-5

Rock salt - a little

Method for making Vrat Wali Upma

First of all, put water and rock salt in a wok or pan and put it on the gas. Now put the soaked Samak rice in it. Boil it for a few minutes and then strain it and keep it in a bowl. Now put the pan on the gas and add ghee to it. Now add peanuts and fry till they become golden brown. Take it out in a bowl. Now put some ghee again in the pan and fry cumin seeds, ginger, and green chilli. Now put curry leaves in it. Now, cut the boiled potato into square pieces and add it. Stir for a few seconds and then add Samak rice.

Stir it well and add milk or water. You can add milk or water as per your wish. Let it cook, and now add roasted peanuts. Add a handful of finely chopped coriander leaves and mix. Tasty and nutritious Vrat Wala Upma is ready for fasting. This is a satvik food, which you can make and eat not only during Sawan fast but also during any fast or festival.
