New Delhi: National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and his Brazilian counterpart Celso Luis Nunes Amorim on Friday held a brainstorming session on furthering partnership in defence and security; energy, rare earths and critical minerals. Amorim was accompanied by a delegation of senior Brazilian officials and advisors.
NSA and Amorim also discussed cooperation in health and pharmaceuticals and in multilateral fora such as BRICS, IBSA and COP30 to be hosted by Brazil in November.
"Expanding defence partnership, building on digital public infrastructure and widening health partnership figure high on the agenda of the Brazilian president with regard to India. Amorim's visit will focus on expanding the defence partnership," Brazil's envoy to India Kenneth da Nobrega had told ET ahead of the visit.
Later, external affairs minister S Jaishankar met Amorim. Sharing details of the meeting on X, he wrote, "A pleasure meeting Amb. Celso Amorim, Special Advisor to President of Brazil, today in New Delhi. Had a useful exchange on the current global scenario and on opportunities for deepening our strategic cooperation."
