Arsenal have been handed a potential boost in their hopes of signing Real Madrid winger Rodrygo this summer.
The Brazilian has emerged as one of the potential targets as the Gunners search for a new winger in the summer window. He is currently over in the states as part of Real Madrid’s squad for the Club World Cup.
Reports suggest that the winger was keen to see what happens with new manager Xabi Alonso before making a decision no his future, with the new Real Madrid boss also keen to have a look at Rodrygo.

However, the last three games may be a hint as to which direction Alonso is leaning over Rodrygo’s future. It was reported on Tuesday that he was expected to be again named on the bench for the clash against Juventus, and that was the case.
Rodrygo was a unused substitute for the game. Gonzalo Garcia’s goal fpr Real Madrid in the second half saw them come out as 1-0 winners and book their place in the quarter-final of the tournament where they will face Borussia Dortmund.
After being named in the starting line-up for the opener against Al-Hilal, where he provided an assist for Real Madrid’s goal, Rodrygo has now been on the bench for the last three games.
He was an unused substitute in the 3-1 group stage win over Mexican side Pachuca, before coming on for the final 23 minutes in the group stage game against Red Bull Salzburg.
Speaking before the game against Juventus, Alonso sent a clear message to Rodrygo about his lack of game time so far. “After the matches, I try to communicate with everyone, including Rodrygo,” he said.
“He will be an important player. In these tournaments, the players who start can be just as important as the ones who come on later. Everyone here is in a good mood, and Rodrygo too. The decision to choose the players is up to me.”
It is however reported that Rodrygo is becoming upset with his lack of game time. That could be good news for Arsenal as they keep an eye on his situation.
