It's been a busy summer transfer window for Arsenaland new sporting directorAndrea Berta following his arrival from Atletico Madrid. The Gunners knew, heading into the window, that they needed to strengthen their squad if they wanted to topple Liverpool at the Premier League summit.

Mikel Arteta's side have finally added a striker to their ranks following the arrival of Viktor Gyokeres, while Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Christhian Mosquera and back-up stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga have also joined the club.

Attention will now shift to offloading a number of the club's fringe players which could - in turn - enable Arsenal to dip back into the market. The Gunners continue to be linked with a move for Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, while Real Madrid's Rodrygo has also been mentioned as a potential target.

Another high-profile forward linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium has been AC Milan star, Rafael Leao. The Portuguese could leave the San Siro this summer - and the Gunners have been touted as a possible destination for him.

Interestingly, Portuguese coach, Tiago Fernandes , who worked at Sporting CP between 2011 and 2018 alongside Leao, has given the Gunners a glowing appraisal of the 26-year-old.

"Leao has the power of [Brazilian] Ronaldo, he has the talent to solve matches on his own," Fernandes saidin an interview with FIFA.

"He reminds me of 'O Fenomeno' with his speed, technique and explosiveness in decisive moments, qualities that this season have emerged every game to drag Milan towards great results."

Leao came through the youth ranks at Sporting, following in the footsteps of Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo, and Fernandes has drawn comparisons between the two, stating he can play at the very highest level.

"We are talking about a very special guy for me, I'm so happy with what he's doing," he added on the now-Milan star. "I met him when he was just 12 to 13 years old, coaching him in almost all the youth teams of Sporting until his first team debut at 18.

"I can assure you that only Cristiano Ronaldo in Lisbon had the same talent as him at that age. It's very exciting. It repays the many hours of work spent together on the pitch at Sporting.

"Rafael has the talent to play in the best clubs in the world, from Real Madrid to Barcelona... I'm convinced that he has an incredible career ahead of him."
